various-larksong-1
VARIOUS - Larksong
For the 2023 British Textile Biennial, collaborative artists Nick Jordan and Jacob Cartwright created a new film, Larksong, and textiles installation, in Goodshaw Chapel - a nonconformist Baptist chapel established by textile workers and farm labourers in 1760. With the chapel as a central leitmotif, the film captures the surrounding landscape of cloughs, rivers and moorlands, laced with the remnants and imprints of the textile workers and industries that shaped the environment. The musical score for the film, presented here on 12" record, has been created by musicians and artists David Chatton Barker, Mary Stark, Sam McLoughlin, Bridget Hayden and poetess Emily Oldfield

A1 Ramah

A10 John Nuttal Lies Here (Epitaph II)

A2 Improvisation I

A3 The Spinner

A4 Weaver's Music Box

A5 Behold Young Man (Epitaph I)

A6 Windy Moor On A Summers Day

A7 God Will Have Glory

A8 Improvisation II

A9 Improvisation III

B1 Improvisation III

B2 Improvisation IV

B3 Ramah

B4 How Suddenly (Epitaph III)

B5 The Spinner II

B6 Wind Sounds

B7 God Will Have Glory (Epitaph IV)

B8 The Pew Watches, The Hand Sows

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4339/files/image_2193513_aeb0245e-06ce-4445-92db-394b60d1f3b4.jpg?v=1727342944
