While he may be best-known for his decidedly spiritual approach to deep house, Joaquin 'Joe' Clausell has a long history of reworking (and on occasions overdubbing) classic disco material. He's delivered versions of all manner of well-loved and little-known disco delights over the years. Here, he turns in an interpretation of Ashford & Simpson's 1978 gem 'It Seems To Hang On' - a typically smooth and musically expansive chunk of loved-up disco-soul perfection. Presented on one side of a green seven-inch single, Claussell's edit foregrounds the groove and luscious orchestration, slowly building up with the aid of lightly dubbed-out vocal loops before unleashing the killer chorus and soaring orchestration. A fine example of a re-edit that does exactly what needs to be done while paying due respect to the source material.
