The single peaked at # 5 in Germany and the US and became a hit in France, UK, Italy, and Belgium. George Michael was a huge fan of the song and introduced the band to CBS Records in 1984. In 2013, the song was sampled in The Weeknd's song "Wanderlust". To celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Precious Little Diamond", 4 versions are available on a 12", exclusively for Record Store Day 2024. This 12-inch includes the Shep Pettibone and Ben Liebrand remixes.
