(26/19) The recent return of Todd Terry's legendary Da Freeze label is a genuinely exciting development, if only because it means fresh vinyl EPs featuring a wealth of previously digital-only jams from the iconic New York house producer. This time round, he re-ignites his Gypsymen project for opener 'Cam Jam (Extended Mix)', where sampled South American vocals and tipsy chords ride a booming bassline and densely layered beats, before slamming down the sweat-soaked, dark-room pump of 'I Was Dancing (Extended Mix)'. Over on side B, 'Da Pulse (Extended Mix)' is a more heavily electronic affair that nevertheless boasts his usual punchy and thickset beats, while 'We Need To be Free (Dub)' sees Terry fix rave-igniting stabs to a dubby bassline and skippy garage-house beats.
