Due to demand, a beautifully warm and enchanting MPB and samba classic is back in circulation for the first time in a half century, starring Bahaian trio Os Tincoãs reinterpreting their Afro-Brazilian heritage for a new era
“The project Pra Gira Girar, formed by Álvaro Lancellotti, Michele Leal, Alan de Deus, Pedro Costa, Zé Manoel, Zero Telles (in memoriam), Diego Gomes, Kassin, and Ana Magalhães, releases its second single, Deixa a Gira Girar, continuing the journey that began with the track Atabaque Chora and previewing the upcoming LP that brings new interpretations of the repertoire of the Bahian trio Os Tincoãs.
Composed by Heraldo Costa Bouzas, Mateus Aleluia Lima, and Grinaldo Salustiano dos Santos, the song was first introduced to the public in 1973, on the album Os Tincoãs. Rooted in the universe of Afro-Brazilian traditions, its lyrics and title evoke the “gira” as a movement of body and spirit — a ritual of collective gathering and celebration of ancestry. Over the years, it has become one of the group’s most memorable tracks, spanning generations and keeping alive the connection between song, ritual, and memory.”
