The A-side, “Macka Step Dub,” is a pounding 128 BPM stepper that kicks off with congas, skanks, and minimal guitar licks before exploding into a flurry of sick sine wave bass, tape echoes, sirens, and magisterial horns. Backed by the faster, more organic assault of “Mek It Run Dub” on the B-side, this release brings a welcome experimental edge to the modern steppers arena while keeping the dancefloor firmly in its crosshairs.
