Klemperer and Brahms had much in common, which may go some way to explaining the empathy with which Klemperer conducts the works of the great composer. As Richard Osborne says in the accompanying liner notes: 'no detail was insignificant, te none was allowed to subvert the larger whole'. This collection brings together Brahms recordings from Klemperer's time with the Philharmonia in London, including the four symphonies, Ein deutsches Requiem and the Alto Rhapsody.
- 3-1 Academic Festival Overture Op.80
- 3-2 Tragic Overture Op.81
- 3-3 Alto Rhapsody, Op.53
