This transatlantic collaboration between Brazilian-American duo Ella and the Bossa Beat and long-time Schema affiliate Toco lands with radiant ease. The A-side sees Ella Borges' breezy vocals and piano lead a lightly percussive bossa rhythm, given warmth by Robson Barros' laid-back bass and Gianluca Petrella's mellow horn arrangements. There's a subtle Mediterranean tilt to the composition-sunny, playful and unforced-reflecting its impromptu origins in the Milan studio. On the flip, Gerardo Frisina sharpens the groove, pushing the congas forward and dialling up the rhythmic interplay to transform it into something more floor-ready without losing the charm of the original.
