'95, "Ask Me Tomorrow" could've easily been the fourth Slowdive LP, sounding like an acoustic deconstruction of the group’s early recordings, still dreamlike and ethereal but recontextualized by discernible lyrics and a country-folk aesthetic. Channelling the sorrowful songwriting of Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake as well as contemporaries like Mazzy Star and Tindersticks, it's become a fan and critic favourite.
