Big cats of Detroit's second-wave techno aristocracy, Lenny and Lawrence Burden hear their early, first-decade run remastered and re-stretched over four LPs like old hides on a new rack. The years 1989-1999 saw 'Nicolette', heard here, first on 1991's 'Octivation' EP, as well as 'Terraforming', also here, on 1995's 'Cymbolic', before both were folded into the original Collective compilation. Unlike that time round, this collection gets the deluxe-box treatment. 'I Believe' with Lisa Newberry remains the soulful outlier in an otherwise quite cacophonous house style - take 'The Edge Of Nowhere' with its broken jazz genius, or 'Eniac' with its harsh, transient sculpted filter-stabs.
