Shangó Ma-Tanza originated from the Penya Safari sessions recorded by Penya's Magnus P.I. in September 2017 at the Zawose compound in Bagamoyo, Tanzania. On the last day of recording, Nash MC arrived at the compound and the communal, collaborative atmosphere birthed a track that was completed several months later at Fish Factory Studio in London, with the entire Penya family's contributions.
