(26/38) While notorious crate diggers Psychemagik have long been amongst the edit scene's most accomplished re-editors, frequently tweaking both unknown gems and popular party-starters, they've tended to keep some of their most best material for the Undercover Lovers series they established seven years ago. Certainly, the two edits offered up on volue seven are amongst their most potent of recent times. For proof, check 'Amazing Grace', a dub disco style tweak of a chugging, low-tempo, synth-splashed reggae cover of the well-known hymn topped off by a haunting, early Bob Marley style lead vocal. Over on side B, they lower the tempo further on '2001', an astonishing, dubbed-out and near 13-minute revision of what sounds like a Cymande style cover of the title music from '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Excepotional!
