"Plane Goes East" is a crepuscular trip through Statue Park, spy novels and Soviet kitsch. Kicking off with the OST version, a cinematic synth scape conjuring images of Onion domes in the moonlight, the Kremlin by night and good old fashioned espionage. Next comes the reassuring kick of the dance version, a vintage house stormer with vamping keys, infectious percussion, low slung bass and bleeping keys a la "Home Computer". It wouldn't be a Disco Halal release without some manner of frazzled Middle Eastern psychedelia, and the screeching saz does the trick perfectly. Flip le disco and cop an earfull of the neon tinged stomp of "Voodoo Your Ex", a percolating bit of hardware jack wrought out of squelching bass, stuttering sequence, sustained strings and a chanted vocal. Fire up the smoke machine, trigger the strobes and turn off the stage lights, this is tripped out techno for the rave generation!
