U.K. orange coloured issue from 2019 of this inspirational album from Steve Reid, who made his reputation as a sideman for the legendary Charles Tyler, played in Sun Ra's Arkestra and recorded only one other session (the killer 'Rhythmatism') as a leader. A conscientious objector, Reid spent two years in prison toward the end of the '60s. He emerged determined to teach and ultimately received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. So he formed his own label, Mustevic Sound, a radical venture along the lines of the AACM, Black Artist Group, Strata-East, or Tribe Records. 'Nova' was recorded in 1976. An album reminiscent of Bitches Brew" era Miles alongside Sun Ra, all amazing spiritual fire music.
