Deep house can often be guilty of being all too nice and pleasant. The second release from 13th Hour suggest this is a label with their own hardcore take on deep, however. Subjoi's opener 'High St' has rock solid kicks and steamy pads that work you into a groove. 'Without You' retain the rugged kick drums, this time layering in more pensive pianos and a dreamy vocal sample from some old blues record, maybe. 'I Say' is a lo-fi looper designed to bump the crowd, and Loure's Latenite remix is brilliantly acrobatic thanks to its bendy synths and leggy drums.
