Since 'The Difference It Makes' by UK duo Alastair Douglas and Rhys Evans - better known as The MFA - showed up in James Holden's infamous Balance mix CD, the track has popularly scored the isles with its tech-pastoral progressions and cascading, pitch-corrected vocals. Later appearing as an EP, this reissue revisits that same debut on the duo's new label Deskbound Complex, pinching up four new versions: the remastered Original MFA Mix, a club-focused Joe Goddard remix, a brooding Nathan Fake reinterpretation, and a 23rd-anniversary MFA remix nodding to The KLF. A gloss-talgic memorial to a classic mid-noughts optimiser, which made all the difference.
