This may seem like an unusual signing for Claremont 56 but "Bastards", by Shane MacGowan's old outfit The Popes, is about as Balearic as it gets. I'm not exactly sure what MacGowan actually does on this track, but it's definitely not singing. What we get instead is an Irish-tinted acoustic folk instrumental fed into the Balearic-chugg machine by Paul 'Mudd' Murphy. The track builds up from the drums into the live bass and then drops the beautiful acoustic guitar riff to give you the full autumn time feeling. On the flip The Idjut Boys let the fiddles fly, then dub things out a bit more and go for a percussion work out.
