These days, Hot Creations is quite selective about what it releases on wax, preferring to serve up most of its material digitally. It's for that reason that this multi-artist 'summer sampler' is a must-check release. There's naturally much to admire throughout, starting with the driving, warehouse-ready hedonism of Prunk & Red 87's 'Express', where restless acid bass, excitable yelps, bustling drums and reverb-laden vocal snippets catch the ear. Raphael & Mishell's 'Naughty' does a good job in combining glitchy tech-house wonkiness and mind-mangling electronic motifs with dark, driving bass, while Easttown's 'Rocking To The Rhythm' sounds like a sweat-soaked, funk-fuelled late-night house anthem in the making. Jamback's 'Is That Okay?', meanwhile, is a low-slung, lightly garage-influenced treat.
