Best known for The Delfonics and First Choice (who appear on these two volumes), Philly Groove also enjoyed considerable American R&B success with acts such as Sound Experience (a rare excursion into funk territory from the label which made its name with sophisticated soul), Broadway Express, The Quickest Way Out and Billy Bass, among others. Even now, thirty years or so since their heyday, Philly Groove remains a highly respected and collectable label. These two volumes do much to tell the story of the label formed by Stan The Man Watson.
