Music From Alejo is the second archival reissue by Ambient Sans of Masahiro Sugaya’s work. Originally composed in the late 1980s and long unavailable outside its original context, the album captures Sugaya’s singular approach to ambient and experimental composition: restrained, textural, and deeply attentive to space.
This edition brings the album to vinyl for the first time. Carefully remastered and accompanied by a newly conducted interview with Sugaya—prepared in Tokyo during a visit with the artist—the release sheds light on the creative period in which the music emerged and the quiet intensity that defines his oeuvre.
More than three decades after its creation, Music From Alejo stands as a key piece for listeners drawn to the introspective and atmospheric traditions of Japanese ambient music. Its subtle interplay of melody, repetition, and stillness invites a contemplative listening experience that reveals new details with every return.
