Originally released in 1984, Sweet Sweet Dreams is a holy grail of Caribbean disco and synth-soca that was notoriously decades ahead of its time. Recorded by the legendary Trinidad and Tobago calypsonian Winston Bailey (Shadow) at SHARC studios, the album marked a significant departure from his usual socio-political commentary. Instead, Shadow dove into themes of tabanca (heartsickness) and fused traditional indigenous rhythms with heavy, cosmic synthesizer riffs.
