Tommy Le Frere, also known as Mr. Redray, takes care of House Hammies Volume 2 for Jack Playmobil and colours outside the usual lines of deep house in the process. 'Ride (Not Fast, Not Slow)' is a jacked-up analogue workout with some different synth textures, twanging bass and scattered hits all making it sound fresh. Elsewhere, there are darker Chicago house grooves overlaid with gauzy keys and chords on 'Underscore' and 'Your Mind' sounds like a Gerkin Jerks cut rewired for 2025. 'The "A" Yard' is a final moody, mid-tempo groove with billowing synths and prickly analogue edges. It's a great reboot for deep house.
