Meditations is a landmark 1966 Avant-Garde Jazz recording by the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane. Considered a spiritual successor to his masterpiece 'A Love Supreme', the album captures Coltrane pushing the boundaries of Free Jazz and Spiritual expression. This recording is historically significant because it features an expanded version of his classic quartet. Coltrane brought in tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders and drummer Rashied Ali to play alongside his regular bandmates, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison, and drummer Elvin Jones. The result is a dense, deeply passionate, and chaotic exploration of sound and faith.
